Set in 1861 in Nevada City, California. The title character — Simon Oberon, is a mysterious character who sings and reads poetry for dining guests at the lavish National Hotel.

1 Plot

The central character Simon Oberon, is a mysterious character who sings and reads poetry for dining guests at the lavish National Hotel. Simon unknowingly interrupts a heist between two inept highwaymen Kinney & Winker who follow Oberon into town and watch him collect coins for his entertaining. Kinney & Winker devise a plan to rob Oberon as he walks home that evening, but Oberon is not who he seems to be.
